Moltmann on Human Rights

I’m currently reading On Human Dignity by J. Moltmann and came across the following passage – a nice summary:

“In the name of the creation of the human being in the image of God, in the name of the incarnation of God for the reconciliation of the world, and in the name of the coming kingdom of God for the fulfillment of history, the church is charged with responsibility for the humanity of persons as well as for their rights and duties in time. We see the theological contribution of the Christian church in the grounding of the fundamental human rights upon God’s right to human beings.”
